Description

Anne Gillis is a French interdisciplinary artist, composer and performer whose work moves fluidly between sound art, performance, drawing and text. Active since the late 1970s, she is closely associated with the experimental and Fluxus-adjacent scenes of Europe, and has collaborated with artists such as Eric Andersen, Dick Higgins and other figures connected to mail art and conceptual performance. Gillis’ sonic work often foregrounds the voice, minimal gesture and material sound, approaching music as an extension of bodily presence, language and action rather than formal composition.

«…» is released as a CD on Art Into Life, presenting a focused selection of Gillis’ sound works that emphasize restraint, intimacy and attentiveness. The recordings unfold through subtle vocal actions, small sonic events and performative traces, inviting close listening rather than dramatic development. As both an archival and experiential release, the album reflects Gillis’ broader artistic practice, where sound operates as a fragile, transient medium — situated between performance documentation and autonomous listening. The edition aligns with Art Into Life’s commitment to experimental, process-driven work that blurs the boundaries between art, sound and everyday action.
