Description

A follow-up to A Year In Any Other Place (Falt, 2022), The Root, The Interim is a four-part tape composition informed by musique concrète, cinema, and dub. Created over 14 months, it moves through a shifting landscape of parks, hotels, kitchens, and churches — spaces where sounds are tested, recontextualized, and transformed through repeated playback and manipulation. The result is a sonic journey of displacement, memory, and material exploration.

David Lacey is a Dublin-based musician working at the crossroads of improvisation and composition. Using percussion, found objects, cassettes, and electronics, he constructs textured works that balance structure and spontaneity. His music has appeared on labels such as Fort Evil Fruit, Verz, Falt, and Confront, and he has collaborated with artists including Rhodri Davies, Annette Krebs, and David Donohoe.
