Description

Reissue of the rare solo album by Nikolaus Utermöhlen, co-founder of Die Tödliche Doris and one of the key figures of Berlin’s post-industrial avant-garde.
Originally conceived as the soundtrack for Georgette Meunier — a film by Tania Stöcklin and Cyrille Rey-Coquais — Karlsbad unfolds as a fragmented and eccentric suite for clarinet, accordion, percussion, recorder, violin, guitar and organ.

Across 23 miniature compositions, Utermöhlen builds a curious world between ritualistic rhythm and dada domesticity.

This reissue by La Scie Dorée restores the original master tapes and includes an 8-page booklet with archival imagery from the spa town of Karlsbad.

A document of post-dada sensibility and quiet delirium — for those who listen where irony and devotion overlap.
