In 2022, I was invited to perform as part of the Appleton festival organised by Manuel Mota and David Maranha, in Lisbon. This invitation marked the start of a unique journey, both domestic and geographical, involving concerts, residencies and sound recordings. As part of this journey, I was introduced to the Osso residence in São Gregório, in rural Portugal. I stayed there for around ten days, pretty much on my own, after a short stopover in Porto at the Sonoscopia artists’ residency.
This three-week trip to Portugal was punctuated by three concerts, but above all by listening and collecting. I recorded the material of reality, in fragments: the sound of the waves of the Atlantic, voices crossed in the street, songs escaping from a park… Anonymous and fleeting sounds, imbued with presence, which become the raw materials of an interior landscape. A sensitive memory of the territory, not documentary but intuitive and vibrant.
