Reissue(?) of this archival compilation from Goaty Tapes, drawn from rarely heard recordings made by Darrell DeVore.

These tracks reveal DeVore’s idiosyncratic approach to what he termed “acoustical sound magic” — using homemade instruments, found materials, and organic resonance to craft music that bridges improvisation, ritual, and psych folk.

DeVore, known for his foundational work in The Charlatans (San Francisco’s first psychedelic rock band), later explored jazz, electronics, and self-built instruments, creating a deeply personal sonic cosmos.

On this compilation, his experimental methods are balanced with groove and warmth: rather than veer into purely abstract territories, his sound prioritizes feeling, texture, and physical vibration.
