Description

Anne Gillis (also known as Manon Anne Gillis) has been active since the early 1980s within experimental and minimal electronic music. Her first release, the single-sided mini-album Angebiguë (1983), was a private self-release issued in a very small edition for friends only. The six-track recording explored a cold, minimal-synth language and remained largely inaccessible for decades, becoming a highly sought-after item among collectors. Notably, none of the tracks from Angebiguë were included in her retrospective Archives Box 1983–2005 (5CD), released by Art Into Life in 2015, further reinforcing the album’s elusive status.

Vhoysee is Gillis’ long-awaited new album, released by Art Into Life, bringing together six new compositions alongside four re-worked and re-mixed pieces from Angebiguë. The new works are built as physical, subject-based compositions using minimal elements, while the reworked early tracks retain their simple, rhythm-oriented structures and glacial sound textures. Across the album, past and present are interwoven into a non-linear listening experience, where early minimal electronics and contemporary restraint form a quiet, labyrinthine continuum. The album was mastered by Jos Smolders and released on vinyl, accompanied by a download code including all tracks.
