Dusa: "Untitled"
7" 1998-1999 ADERLATNING PRODUCTIONS

As in the previous issue we are going to focus one more time on the Dusa group. The group has realeased their first singel to the Swedish Aderlatning Productions . This 7inch gives a brand new sound in the comparison to the second album of the band. The music stops to remind of a documentary. The new improvisation and noise, although not in a such well done montage like the previous one. This is a primitive collage which also in this case in produced by a tape recorder, using pause-start technique, and giving a mix of analog and tape music. In the end it doesn’t bring noise, but an expression of dreams and utopia. The use of the samples is different than in the last album. It’s more rough and voilent but at the same time supprising and enjoyable. [Marios M.]

The Pyramids : "S/T"
CD-R 2008 HYDRA HEAD

The pyramids is a band from texas. Everybody knows the label so… (just kidding). I was kind of expecting something else. The cover with the deers and stuff seems to be misleading. The opening track “sleds” is a great one to start a record. 4 or 5 layers of delayed and feedbacked guitar + the hard to understand what he is singing radiohead-like feedbacked voice gave me a strange feeling that I was somewhere in a canyon. “igloo” (the second track) unfolds in an almost similar manner though the occasional sound of the thrash-like drums make everything almost uncanny and soon everything fades out for “the echo of something lovely” that is lovely indeed. Distorted guitars + the ethereal voice make the whole atmosphere really sweet till the gothic almost cacophony intro of “end resolve” follows with its gothic like drum-machines and the voice brings into mind the late-era blonde redhead. Very nice!!!. “Hellmonk”, “this house is…” and “Hillary” are probably the most industrial tracks of this album. Singing is almost disappearing giving its place to moaning and really amplified humming. 3 tracks from the end “ghost” sounds like really distorted muse. “Monks” and “1,2,3 pyramids” are the most aggressive tracks of all. Many prerecorded parts of clocks and other unrecognizable noises, shouts and many guitars show in the best way what these guys are up to. Probably a great live-performing band. At the end all I am left with is the impression that I was listening to radiohead jamming with black dice. Strange but lovely. [Fervent]

Unitauf :''ALFA AND OMEGA "
3" CD-R 2008 SUBLIMINAL RECORDINGS

This realese of the greek Unitauf is one of my favorite ones, because it’s sounds different from the previous works of the artist. It’s not a digital noise. This 3inch CDR includes two mixes of asian music tracks. This traditional music of Asia really make reflect on our European “culture”. Thanks God that some things are not a victim of globalisation. The ediotin of the mix was done in a aesthetic way with a little distraction. Givind us illusion of listening to the radio station that loses and brings back it’s signal. It could be the new realese of the “sublime frequencies”. We mark it as a good realese.

Onq : "OPAQUE DAYS"
CD-R 1996

Who the hell is onq? He could be a parthenogenesis. He is Italian prototype. Playing guitar creates paranoid homemade music. His music has a dark face and it’s reminds of “old europe cafe” records. ONQ has his own melancholic way. We have chosen the best album from his many realeses. The intalian temperament to be an extravagant (like the most Italian gothic bands) but also he leads to the itlian progressive music. The outcome is extatic, because of his obsession of using a lot of delay and slowing down the music to fill the gaps. Very good!
