T.E.C. - The Quiet Punch / Empty Like a Shell / Floating Videos

T.E.C. stands for Tentacle Ensemble Collective and they come from Brazil. This collective of artists, musicians, cinematographers… collaborate in various projects that range from music videos to films to live projections etc. In their website there are not many information on who they are (they appear in masks) but there is the theory behind the collective which reminded me in general of a south-american version of the group of people around Arthur Krocker and c-theory network. We kind of had a little chat some time ago via myspace and some days later some cds and a dvd arrived.
T.E.C., "The Quiet Punch" dvd, is a short movie that kind of reminded me of Chris Marker’s, the jetty. In TEC ‘s own words (that are very, very accurate actually) "the worst is not when nothing happens but when something happens and nothing comes after".
T.E.C., "Empty Like a Shell" cd includes one short of music-video only, an animation actually with music by m.armani that consists mainly of pictures and sketches and collages that deal with the idea of the essence of the modern world, as a matter of fact the title of the piece demonstrates clearly what they believe about it. What I liked more was the encouraging diy feeling of it and the mum-like music.
T.E.C., "Floating Videos" cd, is a compilation of T.E.C. videos as the mysterious and eerie silent video, the kind of a trailer mascaras, the documentary in the sign of the tentacle shot in a fashion that reminded me of the cinema of Guy Er. Debord and two videos that document T.E.C.’s dadaistic approach to performance or experiments as they refer to them.

T.E.C. είναι τα αρχικά της κολλεκτίβας Tentacle Ensemble Collective η οποία προέρχεται από τη Βραζιλία. Αυτή η ομάδα καλλιτεχνών, μουσικών, κινηματογραφιστών συνεργάζονται σε διάφορα πρότζεκτ που παίζουν από μουσικά βίντεο σε φίλμ και ζωντανές παραστάσεις. Στην ιστοσελίδα τους δεν υπάρχουν πολλές πληροφορίες για την ταυτότητα τους (εμφανίζονται και με μάσκες) αλλά υπάρχει η θεωρεία πίσω από τις δράσεις τους η οποία μου έφερε στο μυαλό ένα λόγο που συγκερ΄ζει λατινοαμερικάνικη πολιτική και τους ανθρώπους και τα κείμενα γύρω από τον Arthur Krocker και το δίκτυο της c-theory. Σε κάποια φάση ψιλομιλήσαμε μέσω myspace και κάποιες μέρες έφτασαν 2 cd και 1 dvd.
T.E.C., Το "The Quiet Punch" dvd, περιέχει μία ταινία μικρού μήκους η οποία μου θύμισε το the jetty του Chris Marker. Αντιγράφοντας τα ακριβή λόγια της κολλεκτίβας για το φιλμ «το χειρότερο δεν είναι όταν δε συμβαίνει τίποτα, αλλά όταν συμβαινεικάτι και τίποτα δεν το ακολουθεί».
T.E.C., To "Empty Like a Shell" cd, περιέχει ένα animation με μουσική του m.armani το οποίο αποτελείται κυρίως από εικόνες αι σκίτσα και κολάζ που επιχειρούν να πραγματευτούν το νόημα του σύγχρονου κόσμου. Για την ακρίβεια ο τίτλος του βίντεο δηλώνει με ακρίβεια τι πιστεύουν σχετικά. Αυτό που μου άρεσε περισσότερο ήταν το θάρρος που μεταφέρει το περιρέον diy συναίσθημα του βίντεο και η μουσική που μου θύμισε κάπως τους mum.
T.E.C. To "Floating Videos" cd, είναι μία συλλογή από βίντεο όπως το μυστηρειώδες silent video, το σαν τρέιλερ mascaras, το ντοκυμαντέρ in the sign of the tentacle το οποίο είναι γυρισμένο με τρόπο που μου θύμιζε το σινεμα του Guy Ern. Debord και δύο βίντεο τα οποία αποτυπώνουν την ντανταιστική τους προσέγγιση στις ζωντανες τους εμφανίσεις ή πειράμτα όπως εκείνοι αναφέρονται σε αυτά.
